Second Mark of the Lamb

Mar 24, 2024 | Marks of the Lamb

The Second Mark of the Lamb is Repentance! In Matthew 3:1-2, John the Baptizer prepared for the Savior and in 4:17, Jesus said, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” John, was announcing that God’s Savior was coming to conquer Satan’s rule over ALL mankind! Repentance means to turn from your present life of sin (Ephesians 4:22—5:2), transform your mind(Romans 12:1-2), modify your purpose in life(John 3:16-21; 15:4-5), and revolutionize your actions! (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

In 2 Corinthians 1:21, Jesus is our Hope of glory! God anoints, establishes, seals, and gives us His Spirit as a guarantee of the coming kingdom. In Romans 8:23-25 the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our full adoption as God’s children. The Holy Spirit living inside true Christians is a foretaste of the life to come. (2 Corinthians 5:5-7) We look forward with hope to our resurrection bodies which will free us from our short comings or weakness of indwelling sin. (1 Corinthians 15:54; cf. Ephesian 1:1823; 4:1-6)

When we have been cleansed and forgiven from our sins by the Blood of the Lord Jesus, His Spirit comes to live in us and gives us the power to “say yes to God” and “no to sin.” God’s will is that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) In Colossians 1:9-12 God shows us His will and His love in verses 13-15, 1923. In Revelation 21-22, God Himself will live with us! (v. 3) There will be no crying, sickness, pain, sorrow. (v. 4) There will be no more curse! (22:3) God will dwell with His people and God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The Lamb is its light! We will reign with God forever!

What is the first sermon ever preached by John the Baptist and Jesus?

(Matthew 3:1-3; 4:12-17, 23-25; cf. 9:35—10:8; Isaiah 40:3-5; Mark 1:1-15; Isaiah 9:1-2, 6-7)

Repentance is:

(2 Peter 3:9; cf. Romans 13:11-14)

  1. A change of mind and attitude from one’s former outlook or way of life to New Birth: (John 14:6; cf. Romans 6)
  2. New Birth or New Perspective comes as we view the Kingdom of God (Born again orBorn from above!): A. Born of God: (John 3:1-21; 1:12-13; Galatians 6:14-15; Titus 3:4-7); B. Through the Word: (James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:22-25); C. Who does not Practice Sin—Continually sins without regret or repentance:(1 John 3:4-9)
  3. Through New Birth, we are introduced to or enter in a new realm where God’s New Kingdom Order can be realized: (2 Corinthians 5:17-21; cf. John 6:27-69; Revelation 21—22).
