In Ephesians 1:7-8, Jesus gives us salvation and forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence! Where is the Wisdom of God found? In His WORD!
Wisdom is spiritual knowledge given to us by the Holy Spirit, after receiving Jesus. (Cf. John 1:12) Prudence is understanding this knowledge through Holy Spirit, our teacher. (Cf. 1 Corinthians 2:7, 10-13) Because of love, God was willing to give His Son’s life for our salvation. Doing good works will never save us but works of service after salvation will give us rewards in heaven. In Matthew 25, what is God looking for in His children? God wants us to be watching and ready for His 2nd coming (vv.1-13) and God wants good and faithful servants! (vv. 14-23)
Divine wisdom enables man to lead a good, true, and satisfying life. In Proverbs 1:1-7, Solomon tells us, when we know wisdom and instruction, perceive the words of understanding, we will have the fear or reverence of the Lord which is the beginning of knowledge.
Wisdom, spiritual knowledge, dwells with prudence (understanding). Proverbs 4:11-23 gives us many benefits in the way of wisdom. In Proverbs 8:12-36, Jesus Christ was the power and wisdom of God at creation, as He was with the Father and the Holy Spirit. In Genesis 1:1-26, Jesus was the Word out of the Father’s mouth doing the creating. (Cf. John 1:1-18) Plural pronouns in Genesis 1:26 are revealing the Trinity. Wisdom gives us knowledge, discernment (Proverbs 14:8) and humility (Proverbs 15:33; cf. 18:23) which is based on reverence for God. (Proverbs 9:10; Job 28:28) God alone possesses wisdom, strength, and prudence andit cannot be derived by human intelligence. (Job 12:10, 13, 16; 28:12-13, 20–21, 27–28; cf. Ecclesiastes 7:23) Those who do not value His Word will not find it (Proverbs 14:6), but God gives it freely to those who seek it. (Proverbs 2:1-12)
