Fifth Mark of the Lamb

In Matthew 20:26-28 Jesus encourages us, “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be our slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) If you see something that needs to be done, do it! Do not wait to be asked. Jesus also tells us in Matthew 18:1-4 to humble ourselves as a little child, realizing that we have needs that only Jesus can meet. (Cf. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2) Jesus gave us an example for us to follow in John 13:1-17—washing His disciples feet. Jesus wants us to serve others in whatever way they need help! (Cf. 2 Corinthians 8:9)

In Philippians 2:5-7 God wants His children to set their mind like Jesus did! Jesus gave Himself willingly as a bondservant, lovingly ministering to all. In Matthew 25:2123, God is looking for good and faithful servants. In Revelation 2:10c, Faithfulness is: 1) An essential quality of God’s children (Psalm 31:23-24; cf. John 16:5-15); 2) Means managing resources properly (Luke 12:42-43; cf. 16:11); 3) Faithfulness is our responsibility as the servants of Christ! (Psalm 89:1-2, 45; cf. 1 Corinthians 3:8—4:2

In Luke 12:34-40, sacrificial giving to others assures us of treasures that can never be taken away. Our heart will be where our treasure is! Make sure that your treasure is found in helping others! God wants us to take the lowly place in this world. When we give to the poor, maimed, lame, and blind, we will be repaid by God at the resurrection of the just! (Luke 14:13)

Where is your treasure in life found?

  1. Fellowshipping with God (1 John 1:5-10; John 8:12; cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
  2. Knowing God (Mathew 22:37; 1 John 2:3-6)
  3. Walking in His Light (1 John 2:9-9-11; 3:14-15; cf. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a; Matthew 5:21-24)
  4. Our Outworking of Love (1 John 3:16-24; Matthew 22:39; cf. John 14:12-28; Ezekiel 33:31-32)
  5. Knowing God through Love (Truth and Error—1 John 4:1-4; Romans 10:8-10, 13
  6. Proof of knowing God (1 John 5:1-5, 11-13; cf. John 15:4-16; 13:34-35; Matthew 5:16)

How far does our faithfulness to God extend?
